This isn't schadenfreude.

I'm just bracing myself. It's not pleasant watching public figures come undone, and this one could get really ugly. (Here.)

He's done, he's through, he's cooked. he wasn't the talent in that house, Elizabeth is. It's one thing to have an affair, it's another thing to be so stupid as to knock up the mistress (condoms, anyone?)-all this while the dolt was running for president no less (what? since when is this France?), it's another thing to screw around behind your wife who is the cornerstone of your public moral strength, but the poor woman has terminal cancer for God's sake!
But to deny it, REFUSE to prove it's all a big lie by refusing the DNA test and then, when you are being considered for the Vice President-ship to meet the woman and child in a big hotel and spend the night? The guy is fucking stupid, makes bad decisions and should never be considered for an important job.
Go back to practicing law, or anything, but Get a Job!

He's a Liar, a Cheater and a Lawyer, what else needs to be said? This is a classic example of media bias that so many are in TOTAL denial about..and the beat goes on!! It's not so much what goes on between consenting adults it's a matter of what's right and wrong, a concept that is foreign to many in this day and age. Having an affair and fathering a bastard child while you are running for President, all the while your loyal faithful wife is dying of Cancer is JUST PLAIN WRONG!! Would anyone want someone this stupid as Vice President?

I'm glad you are all venting about this here on Choolie's blog, because I have the story on my blog and I'm not allowing comments because they are all going to be just so damn boring and predictable- however right (or righteous) you all may be.
Thanks Chools!!

Charles,
This story's been out for a week. You have NO excuse for dragging your heels.

Danny, equal opportunity knocks. Didn't the Newt do the same thing to one of his wives?

Right on brother if it feels good do it!!

h,
What does Newt Gingrich have to do with this? For the record he never had a bastard child while married.

@h: "The story's been out for a week," yeah, but CNN hasn't touched it yet. I stumbled upon it through wonkette, otherwise I might have missed this recent episode. It's coming though, isn't it? The blogosphere gossip is that "mainstream media" is really sniffing.

Jay Leno referred to the scandal the other night in his "Headlines" segment, when the joke headline on the bundle of newspapers read:

John Edwards asks Kobe Bryant, 'What's a good jewelry store?'

Every time one of these breaks, from Larry Craig to John Edwards, I get depressed about how flawed, fragile and self-destructive our species is. I also get outraged about how arrogant, stupid and unbelievably selfish-- but then I go back to flawed, fragile and self-destructive.

They seem to keep underestimating "the Internets." It's the great equalizer: you can't get away with shit, no matter who you are... actually you can't get away with shit especially if you are someone.

Ken Layne, editor of wonkette, has an interesting take here about how this one's a scandal that makes nobody look good: Here

Choolie,
We are being totally manipulated by the mainstream media. Both sides, all sides. The only way to get anything even more than half right, is to read everything you can. That includes all the regular sources, newspapers, cable news, even Fox, but also to go to the internet. However, I have found that the best FIRST source, quite frankly, are the gossip blogs. They get a story out there, as raunchy and uncensored as they make it. If there's any leg to it, it starts to move, either quickly or slowly, no one wanting to give credit to the gossiper, or slowly, slowly, the story starts to take route. Danny, scoff at what I just said and call me an imbecile for reading that stuff, but, hey.... this is where you hear it first.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. The volume of drival you take in from these "gossip sites" in no way legitimizes them or makes them worth while the one out of a Million times they land on a legit story like "Edwards the Pig".
The Internet has been a great emancipator from the MSM, however the "gossip" and sleeze sights are hardly the place to find truth on a consistant basis. Stop wasting your time and brain cells on, Heather Mills, Lindsey Lohan...et al. Raise the bar go for the gold, life is too short to read that CRAP!

"We are being totally manipulated by the mainstream media."

And have been for decades before the Internet.

"Danny, scoff at what I just said and call me an imbecile for reading that stuff"

I don't have to you just did...You are the best:-)

Choolie,
The Ken Layne article is Spot on, My favorite quote is, "they are twisted little Caligulas pretending to be statesmen, on your dime." Of course Charles doesn't see it that way:-) The only way this Republic can be saved is through Term Limits.

As long as Teddy Kennedy is grandfathered in, I'm not against term limits. :)
